Actually I'm pretty sure the biggest library fire ever happened in Egypt. I forget who conquered them, some kiked group, but they burnt all their writings. Hence all the "speculation" today. The Egyptians were very well versed in a lot of esoteric teachings, and (they) took care of that... Luckily a lot of them died in the process because the pyramids are as well boobytrapped as they are built.
