Walmart. I only went there because I could avoid the massive hordes of people late at night and do some shopping in peace. With no 24 hours I rarely shop there now.

I avoid ordering online unless I have to. I don't want to live in a world where everything has to be ordered online.

Do you ship internationally? If so, is it very complicated? I used to sell on ebay years ago and limited my shipping to domestic buyers only. I sold everything I listed so it's not like I was completely shooting myself in the foot with those restrictions. But if I ever do sell again I'm curious to know if shipping internationally is worth the hassle and expense.

When I sell international on eBay it gets sent to a hub in Illinois and shipped out from there.

Social Media in general.

By the time Facebook was widely accepted, it was already redundent. So it was only natural to abstain from Twitter, Google+, SnapChat, Instagram, and all the various clones. In fact, there was a good era after 2010 where it was becoming cool not to have any social media at all.

The rise in social media is from the rise of children with smart phones.

Now imagine that: An entire generation where smart phones were handed to them with absolutely no true internet frontier to explore.

Amazon. I don’t want a delivery nigger in my neighborhood. Our FedEx guy is white and so is our UPS guy. Amazon only hires niggers to deliver around me. Thanks, jews.

I also noticed about four years ago that, broadly, the quality of everything on Amazon took an absolute fucking nosedive. There's always been chink-tier shit on Amazon, but it seemed like, fairly suddenly, Amazon search results began to look like a prettier skin for an Alibaba search. I also noticed the weird, almost make-shift company names started exploding too. Say you were in need of, I don't know, a cooling pillow. No longer would you find companies with names you might expect, like "Dream Sleep". The companies have wacky names like Linsloop or Hiyagin or Dusinki (just make up gibberish, and you'd probably pick out a real name by accident). And with 'Amazon Picks', you can guarantee these Malaysian brands were the ones with 123,000 4-5 star reviews.

Basically, Amazon became the front-facing marketplace of the other hemisphere's cheap dogshit.

On a different note, still regarding Amazon, I've never witnessed a site in my life with more useless functionality. When you click a dropdown menu, the menu honestly requires a scroll bar; it's like the length of football field, and it's filled with features that I would never think of using. I'm often left wondering who the fuck uses 90% of these features; it's just outrageously bloated.

Absolutely. I especially began noticing the fake, pumped up reviews. It’s so hard to trust anything you buy online anymore, unfortunately, but especially from Amazon.

Three recent orders of lightbulbs from Amazon. Every order had a broken bulb (something rattling around inside, scratching the white coating off the inside of the bulb). And these were LED bulbs which are pretty robust.

Libraries. Last time I went there were a bunch of junkies and hobos. I decided to go to a bookstore instead, to my surprise 90% of the books are about women empowerment and niggers. If you want to find a decent book you have to look for very old stuff in the 1800 or early 1900’s.

Voicemail.

Everyone has gotten so used to texting that I pretty much know the short list of institutions that are to blame, any time I receive a voicemail. Human beings who aren't representing corporate or political (is there a difference) America, when realizing I did not pick up the phone, are never thinking: "I really ought to leave Chiro a voicemail."

I actually laughed. Well done. I'm a bit curious how you could interpret the wires symbolically, not that I'm a psychoanalyst or anything.

Also, I see your point. I picked out something more or less abandoned, rather than something that became unusable.

Craigslist has been dead a long fucking time. I used to use it a lot when it was new. At the time I was working for a research agency and a big story came in about it on the news. Most people didn't know about it and as soon as that story hit it became unusuable. That was decades ago.

You used it in 2021? Good god, it must have been shit. The public first got on there in around 2005 and a few months after that story I went on and it was garbage. Honestly, I'm shocked it's still around. It was fucking garbage in 2005

The reason is people using them as a business like you're doing. Not saying that's bad, just cause and effect.

You want to go to the bulk bins, where they sell stuff by weight before it goes out to the stores. That's where all the good stuff gets snatched up cheaply.

For big services/sites, it's called enshittification

https://pluralistic.net/2023/01/21/potemkin-ai/

Tl;dr: they gain a monopoly/huge size by providing a good service (sometimes at a loss), then switch to squeezing maximum $$ out of it at the cost of the user experience
