It's not about appealing to the tards, it's about holding on to reliable workers and being able to ask them to work harder than usual when shit hits the fan, be that someone in sales over-promising to land a big client or some twat in marketing sending out emails that new product/service will be launching in an entirely unrealistic timeframe.

Smart people know that quality of life is the most important factor (yes money is part of that) and that's what you want.

Smart people who will work hard when needed.

The companies that don't understand this, and have the mindset that everyone should be working at 100% all the time, are almost exclusively staffed by idiots.

I remember at a redundancy leaving dinner (some American bought the company and exported our jobs to the US) lots of people saying they only stayed in the company because of me and they knew they could only hope to get a boss as easy going as me in the next job.... I more than doubled their workload.

How you treat people matters.
