A Subverse for Anecdotes, Essays, and Wisdom

submitted by Trope to world 9 monthsJul 23, 2023 19:03:25 ago (+5/-0)     (world)

I think it would be really fun if there was an effort to promote the sharing of stories. I managed to type up an entire essay a few days ago and was happy to see how engaging you all have been. Perhaps we can promote the telling of such experience and stories and share our discoveries and wisdom with one another. A story with a message, lesson, or even a problem to solution would be great.

Good stories come up every now and then on the voat and they tend to do well. And they are inherently valuable as the media would never allow such politically incorrect truths to be shared with such passion; The kinds of things you would teach your own sons and daughters.

I wholeheartedly agree with you on the value of such posts/stories, and thank you for yours the other day. However, the literacy pool here is shallow and besides that, most drunkpost.

I’ll just go ahead and start it. It’s something I would want so it is something I’ll create.

I sometimes think I should create a blog but I don’t know who actually reads those. A good sales man can never sell something he himself is not completely sold on. I full-heartedly believe many good men stumble upon some very great wisdom in their lives and even fewer are able to articulate it. Just one such example is the number of Voat users who complain about taxes. Meanwhile, no one is dropping constructive comments on how to minimize tax liabilities. I didn't understand what a tax deduction was until two years ago and boy has it been an adventure!

Ha! Taxes! I’m a master at tax evasion, er I mean, avoiding taxes. I’ve been self employed since 1996 and now I’m incorporated. Ask me anything.

Well how about that? Now imagine of a good chunk if this here website was used for constructive purposes and education and not just doom and gloom! I like to see the world as a vast stormy sea of bullshit. A man who can weather the storm and keep his ship afloat financially can keep his legacy strong.

When and if you get audited, I know to save all my receipts, but does that process entail jumping through needless hoops and filing additional forms and paperwork? I remember the first time I went to pay sales taxes, I thought id just be writing a check to the state but that turned out to be a shit show.

Do you take photos of your home office and marked off walls/borders if youre planning to take the home office deduction?

I use a CPA, always have. Also, have a business address. And yes, sales tax to the state is a pain in the ass.
