Was reflecting on a memory near a restaurant I used to work at that I wanted to work at.
I did an interview and they said I would be a busser and a hotel assistant. I said I can do that. She showed me the details and my duties and I was taken back with how laid back it was so I said "Oh, this job shouldn't be a problem, seems easy enough once you understand it."
She emailed me saying she doesn't want someone who doesn't finds the job challenging and I shouldn't tell a new job in an interview that the job looks easy. Actually still have the email because my gmail is ancient.
" Also when i asked you why you think you might be suitable for this position you said "Because it seems like it would be easy". At times this position can be rather laid back we are constantly busy, moving, helping guests, maintaining the cleanliness of the Inn and doing maintenance. There's really not much that is "easy" about it.
I wanted to give you some feed back so you when moving forward with the other interviews that you said you had you are well prepared to take those on. I might also suggest being more open to bus transportation and finding a position that allows you to work during times when the bus might be running. I feel like you may have a better chance at having a hiring manager seeing that as a more reliable than simply walking.
Good luck and thank you for applying!"
I lived a mile away, told her I have 3 rides I can use daily, and walked to my other job next door for 3 years. The lady was fucking retarded and probably pissed because she might find it challenging but to me for how young I was it was childs play, didn't feel challenged at all. The only challenged thing was this ladies mental capacity.
Glad I moved on to the next and worked at a 5 star hotel right after. Made the most money of my life. Now I just do tech testing on microchip wafer tools and have time to write shit like this.
Thanks for listening y'all. Continue being the fags you are.

Thanks bro. [Spoiler alert - self-indulgent rant follows] It's getting better but oh so slowly. Not the worst back pain I've had but a solid 6.5/10 The spasms weren't as painful as normal. Normally they can bring me to the cusp of fainting.Been walking into town for supplies and it was misery. Tried the bike today and it was much better.I wouldn't wish lower-back pain on my worst enemy, not even @Ragnar !
See, I knew your scooter posting was a trap all along! I threw a rib out of my spine a few years back and that lingered for a good six to eight months before it popped back onto place. That was plenty bad enough. I'm very thankful that I don't have back problems and can empathize with those that do. People without a spine like @ragnar simply can't understand.
"And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept; and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. that call'd a Woman woe to man?".
Bwahahaha look at this geriatric with all broken joints. If you had kids they could at least provide comfort and hopr. But instead, you are at the mercy of your Filipino wife who hates you and married you for citizenship. Just so you know she has three kids back in phillipines, she’s waiting for you to kick the bucket and get her real family over.
Ok you're bitter and jealous that me and the missus didn't breed and you did. A child-free life is ... a life (as my equally jealous and bitter mother would tell you).
Yeah man, people like that are a cancer to the workplace.
Funnily enough, the worst HR manager I ever met was a beta male at the Home Depot I worked at in high school. Dude was an ass that everyone hated. I quit for a better job but a year later they got hit by the recession and laid off almost everyone. Reapplied to the Homo Depot. In my absence I would still go in to buy stuff and chat with my old coworkers. They'd always ask when I was coming back. That asshat HR dork told me "I talked with the crew, and everyone says they don't want you back".
Fuckin' liar. That pissed everyone off so much that the store manager punished him by moving his weak ass to lumber, and offered me the job back. I declined and wound up working for my dad.
I think you're right on the money here. If you want to get the job you've got to make the people who are doing the job feel like it is a job that isn't trivial. You made it seem like it was trivial and so all the people who are working it were made to feel trivial. And this is their life so they don't want to feel like it's trivial. That was your mistake in that interview.
One other thing that I've noticed is if you want to get a job it's always helpful to pretend to be the wide-eyed ignorant little person that really needs the mentorship of the brilliant entrenched person who will be your boss. You really have to play that up. They love that. You don't want to play up then you'll be independent and be able to do the job without much help from others and you won't be a bother. You would think that's what they want but what they really want is someone who strokes their ego who looks to them like a mentor and acknowledges their great wisdom and someone that they of course because of this feel like they can manipulate to their own purposes in the job if they need to.
It's just very helpful to make the people who are going to give you the job feel like they are superior to you even if they're not.

pretend to be the wide-eyed ignorant little person that really needs the mentorship of the brilliant entrenched person who will be your boss
Which would be a good attitude because you don't actually know how they want things done until they explain it to you. Acting ignorant makes you open to the full information they give.
That's why women should be limited to the domestic sphere. She actually thought her lack of boundaries and chastising you was rational attitude towards anyone who wasn't her own minor child.
Even then, they're absolutely wretched to deal with around the home. Everything they could do, you could do better. And mostly they're just fucking up the cleaning of their own messes.
The 'oldest child of the household' meme makes so much sense now that I've lived it
I upvoted you. Females find it hard to separate their personal attitudes from what should be only professional in the workplace hence the difficulties men and indeed women have working with/for them.

I worked at Hotel Intercontinental in Dallas decades ago. My hair was touching my collar. The manager, a French asshole with a Steven Seagal, bald with a ponytail. Told the concierge " who eez dese man wit de long hair in my lobby. Gir rid of heem".

BRAVO!!! That cunt might have saved your life. Imagine if you'd gotten the job there, performed well and loved it. They'd have promoted you to head bus guy or something and you were still there?
LOL, it's interesting to me how easily our paths could have been so easily different if just one or 2 things had been different. Congrats!
Stupid things like this transpire all the time. Part of life’s tests are facing rejection even when it’s outright silly. How we handle rejection is what matters most - and in this case, I think you did just fine.
Just because she was a position of authority does not mean she wasn't a dumbass. Maybe she found you cocky and triggered an insecurity.
Shame. On day one, you probably would have done a great job, finished all your work, and asked for more to do. Quickly you would have replaced her. But take that work ethic eith you where ever you go!
So much slobbering wage slaverism here - look clock jockeys, here’s how it goes - make business, get partners not employees, everyone has a share, work what you’re good at and answer only to clients who make you money not another wagie whose feelings you have to constantly manage just to make a crummy hourly.
