Inertial Navigation systems and attitude indicators based on mechanical gyroscopes absolutely can not be used as accurate instrument flight rules equipment if the earth was actually a globe. Which is to say the ability for readily available GPS equipment to measure the distance between two points, as I described above, is accurate to within less than a foot, and has radio navigational equipment, also readily available, to confirm these distances.
