Thought this was going to be dumb and boomer but that's actually a good quote.

My only issue with it is "Trust me" doesn't cut it on really smart kids, who will think it's a stand-in for "I don't actually know" and won't trust you anymore if they ever catch a hint that you're wrong. (Even if you're not)

Better to teach kids like that. They still don't get to decide for themselves though.

Not trying to refute those words, but parents don't always know what's best, or what a kid needs.
