Given the almost complete lack of any reflected highlight, Im saying that isn't a liquid at all. Liquid is shiny. The fact that the ground slopes noticably would say that if it's liquid it would be very viscous. It is almost certainly dark sand or rock. You can even see the texture.

Quite obviously sand.
