I believe there is also a "Rattlesnake Hunt" in Waynoka, OK / Little Sahara Sand Dunes. Lots of fun, lots of people, and lots of really cool dune buggies and bikes and quads and what not.
He had no reason to fall on the ground, that was for dramatic flair.
I used to own a 17 foot reticulated python, kept it in my garage, fed it 2 rabbit every couple of weeks.
Handling these big snakes is not nearly as dramatic as this video makes it out to be. He did the right thing getting ahold of its head, if you notice, they really are not very fast strikers, it is not difficult grabbing their head. He could also had a flashlight & knocked the thing unconscious/dead with a couple of blows (maglight d-cell).
It got a little too big for my tastes and my roommate who actually got the thing took off when he got an inheritance.
Got rid of all of my reptiles, it was fun for a while but not something I wanted to do long term.
Herbie the retik ended up at the San Antonio zoo where he lived another decade.
