What's the best designed console so far?

submitted by Conspirologist to gaming 1.8 yearsJul 12, 2023 10:08:38 ago (+2/-7)     (gaming)

I think it's the PS1. It was geometrically perfect and had the first ergonomic controller. The best feature were the memory card. You were able to share your game data with your friends. As far as I know, it was the most revolutionary console so far. All the other consoles are only upgrading their video cards. The only second revolutionary console is the Switch, because they managed to make a portable console that also works as a stationary console. This is also real genius engineering and design.

My favorite was Dreamcast. Most well designed is probably the Switch.

Edit: Dreamcast bros unite

Dreamcast controllers were ass. The rest of it was legendary

OP seems to agree, so this is probably not true.

Dreamcast had cool games, but the controller was junk.

Definitely the Dreamcast, you faggot spammer.

I think the dreamcast was best due in large part to its superior controller.

Dreamcast controller was junk. PS1 controller is standard now.

PS1 controller originally didn't have analog sticks. The upgraded ps1 controller is standard now.

That's right. But it's still the PS1 controller. They've made the revolution.

Not sure if it was optional on the 1970 & 1/2 version, but it was a great console.

Commodore 64 was better

[ - ] Special_Prosecutor 0 points 1.8 yearsJul 12, 2023 21:43:41 ago (+0/-0)

Agree, but the C64 isn't a gaming console. It's a personal computer. It was designed several after the Odyssey2. I still have both.

A better comparison might be the Vic20, although also not a console. It still could outperform an Odyssey.

It's telling that everyone says Dreamcast because they never owned one until after it was a dead platform.

This debate should be Genesis vs SNES.

OG Xbox with the Duke controller. Slant eyed faggots and pajeets couldn't use it because of their tiny manlets hands.

I'm gonna be the outlier and say GameCube. Comfy controller, nice small discs, memory cards, tiny console with a handle for easy transport, and an amazing catalog of games to go with it
