Russell Crowe Gladiator gets the shaft because they owed it to Denzel.

Later - Matt Damon got the shaft for Martian after they were still in debt to DiCaprio, who had been nominated 5 times previously but kept losing, most egregious was not winning for Wolf of Wallstreet.

Obviously Top Gun was the best picture in 2022 but went to something nobody cares about. Why? Social Marxists ruin everything.

They just want fair representation proportional to their overall societal representation - is that really too much to ask? Tbf, their inability to understand the basic concept of proportionality, or indeed maffs in general, does create some difficulties in them understanding if or when their goal is achieved, but a noble goal it remains nonetheless.

When I was a younger man I thought actors were quite skilled artists. Then I saw a series of mumbling rappers thrown into big budget movies and, to a silverback, were able to hold their own alongside the more experienced thespians. I have since learned that the ancient Romans held actors in similar esteem to prostitutes, and I find myself in agreement with those Romans. So, long story short, maybe the rewards are already a little too great for people whose “art” is just repeating things they’ve learned by rote.

I believe slaves were regarded as higher status than actors and prostitutes because they at least had some inherent loyalty to their masters.
