Have you all noticed a decided lack of mosquitos this summer? Where I live we are usually inundated with them, but they are very, very scarce this summer for some reason

Could Bill Gates and his henchmen and brethren have found a way to eradicate the native mosquitos in advance of their release of the tainted mosquitos.

just a thought, there are no mosquitos at all where I live

Things are no different where I am, thus I used one mosquito coil last year and one the year before, this year I have not had to use a single one, hitherto after a spell of rain in particular there could be thousands of 'skeeters, whereas at times I have had to keep about five coils going just to keep ahead of them .. mosquitos can travel up to forty k's in a single night

Mosquitoes are pollinators as well mosquitoes and mosquito larvae are at the bottom of the food chain for many species of fish .. mozzies as they are called here in Australia are so rarely encountered, since genetically modified specimens guaranteed to produce barren offspring were introduced into the environment about seven yrs ago.

Despite the entire region encompassing as it does Moreton Bay and associated vast banks of mangroves which are a vital fish spawning habitat, while the mangrove forests themselves are under attack in northern Australia. This Agenda 21 kinda stuff sometimes camouflaged as "rodent control" is going on world wide, whereas helicopters drop tonnes of poison pellets onto even the most isolated islands and reefs, that will necessarily bring genocide to the bird life and other island inhabitants.

There are a bunch of variables there. Bill and his mosquitos are a thing of course. But if your spring was exceptionally dry, there may be a lack of standing water to harbor eggs. There are also a number of species which feed on their larva. There may have, for an unrelated reason, been an explosion of those predators.

I haven't noticed any difference here.

That's the thing, it hasn't been dry. Plenty of rain and plenty of heat. That usually brings about a deluge

Same in my place. I have a lot of flies, but haven't seen any mosquito yet.

I wish bill gates would take rabies and make it make people more aggressive so we could finally get the zombie apocalypse

No difference in my area, maybe they are dying from vaccinated blood.

False. I'm getting eaten alive

That is usually the case here, but not this year

I live next to a Florida swamp, and might see one mosquito a week. A truck rolls thru my hood once a week and sprays.

Could it be all the rain?

mosquito bites are good against cardiac arrest. they kill moskitoes to kill you.

[ - ] SumerBreeze 1 point 10 monthsJul 7, 2023 09:45:09 ago (+1/-0)

You mean bees?

[ - ] Artificial_Intelligentile 1 point 10 monthsJul 7, 2023 12:19:24 ago (+1/-0)

mosquitos squirt some chemical into your blood so the blood doesnt clot while they suck it. humans have evolved being stung by moskitoes all the time, so their level of platelet is adjusted to a level that considers being constantly stung by moskitoes. if that doesnt happen, your blood clots too easily and you die of cardiac arrest. or something.

Its worse than it ever has been in Florida. I currently have like 20 bites.

I live in a desert. We never have mosquitos and this spring had a fair bit. I went to a wedding in alberta to a place where there usually are hoards of thousands and there was none

No. there are gorillions of the little flying jews here, man.

[ - ] gimpyoldman 1 point 10 monthsJul 7, 2023 10:21:38 ago (+1/-0)

They're all hanging around in my backyard, in southeast TX, waiting for me to come out. I've planted citronella all over, spray Raid everyday. I think they like it. If I stay out there more than a few minutes I feel like I have to to the ER to get a blood transfusion to replace the blood the Gates-bugs have drained from me.

Only thing I can recommend is cutting low brush/low limbs/high grass to promote airflow. They like the shade and stagnant areas. If I have guests we have to setup a gym fan to blow on people, it keeps them at bay if you are in the wind tunnel

[ - ] JudyStroyer 2 points 10 monthsJul 7, 2023 11:23:47 ago (+2/-0)

Worse than ever where I live. Are you Antarcican by any chance?

[ - ] Sleazy [op] 0 points 10 monthsJul 7, 2023 16:23:19 ago (+0/-0)

no, not Antarctican

[ - ] Sector7 1 point 10 monthsJul 7, 2023 12:03:04 ago (+1/-0)

Haven't seen one this year yet, but used to see a couple per week or so.

[ - ] VitaminSieg 1 point 10 monthsJul 7, 2023 12:07:44 ago (+1/-0)

For me, it's no bees this year.

[ - ] Zyklonbeekeeper 2 points 10 monthsJul 7, 2023 14:10:24 ago (+2/-0)

Right before sundown up until about 23.00hrs the fucking skitters buzz around with chainsaws here...forest fires are good skitter killers.
