It's the sales pitch. Like "we need more surveillance to fight them terrrists". In comes the "Patriot Act". It's for your own good, you know. It's an extension of China's social credit system. Do you want a PC upgrade, a new dryer, a beer after a long week of meetings, or sporting equipment to start a new hobby to socialise in your limited free time? Guess again, your purchase will incur negative social credits and eventually decline your purchase that the powers that be deemed unfit for your drone life.
Simply the few of us clued on to not participate is not enough to stop CBDC becoming common practice. Think about how many people use paywave on their phones now, or third-party food delivery services like UberEats, even though both are worse than the prior alternatives. If enough people practice it, it becomes fashionable for the sheeple.
Expiry dates are probably the most horrifying concept in that speech. You work harder, for longer and go without dates, good food, friends, everything to save more for a better future, then your saving simply expires. There is no working harder out of servitude, welcome perpetual debt slavery.
There is absolutely no good reason for expiry dates. And the creep from negative interest rates was more of a mad dash. "Programmability" goes against the core concept of currency being a stable store of wealth, a lesson we should have learned from the inflation that came with the switch to fiat.
Just you wait and see, the way they like to rub it in our faces, they'll incorporate the word, "Mark" in it to drive home the point that it's the work of the beast system.
