I used to work in a gas station convenience store in my teens. I would rip the corner of a $20 and stick it protruding out of the candy boxes. The joy and subsequent anger of customers was great. I am a shallow person.
Also glad you got a starting tip. Cheers, White man! O/
You know, you could have gone into the bank or contacted whoever owned the ATM and told them you found the cash, which you know is not yours. They would have been able to figure out who withdrew it and informed them they left the money on accident.
Just saying, since your good day is at some stranger's expense.
Nah, I'm good on that. I work at a bar, it was some drunk ass mother fucker last night. If you're too sloppy to take all your cash that's not my problem, it's yours. I've probably found $300 here in the past two years, a good $80 of that was left in the ATM.
Well, I hope things get better for you, so you won't have to find yourself in moral quandaries like whether or not it's OK to nick a 20 here or there from a drunk.
It's the same as finding a wallet on the ground and not trying to return it. I know that's not what you want to hear, but it is what it is.
Is it really a big deal? No. Not really. Nor do I think it makes you a bad person. And even if you had gone through the trouble of finding out who owned it, they probably wouldn't have even made the effort to get it back and let you keep it anyway, given it's all of $20.
But, you could be taking from you right now. You have no idea who that person is. They could be struggling along just the same as you are. Maybe it takes them two weeks, or an entire month, to save up enough cash to where they feel OK blowing it partying. Maybe he was drunk at the time, but that $20 could have been damn important to him. You'll never know.
Not to preach at you too much, but try to keep in mind, it's all the little, everyday decisions we make that total up to who we are. There's a benefit to holding yourself to a high standard, and while your circumstances might make it seem impossible to do such, I promise you that benefit is worth way more than $300.
Hey jinglebanger, step up and educate my wife on that shit will you. Everytime she finds money in my pockets as she's doing laundry, and it's added up to thousands ($100's and $20's add up quick) she quietly pockets it. The upside is my pocketnives, mace, loose change, notes, etc, don't screw up the washer dryer, which are top of the line Bosch and not cheap. She once owned up to a friend.
God tests us in weird ways. When you thoughtfully choose the love-thy-neighbor-as-thyself way, then God, Universal Balance, and a healthy character reward you.
Because they weren't waiting there with a phone to shoot their next tiktok. What do you mean.
We both know it is way, way more likely that someone simply left the money there. That's a pretty hard cope, my man. And he should have still made the effort to figure out what the situation was. He literally stole it, as in committed a criminal act, albeit a minor one.
It's not like I called him a nigger or anything. Just hopefully next time, he will be a little more thoughtful.
Working today, as well. I have beef at work, too. Going timo quit this job soon. I thought I was getting laid off from my other one, but they likely extended the contract by a few months.
