One does not simply 'join' the Amish. Being German, they actually have standards.

Part of the prepping done by the Amish is to keep out all strangers during hard times. Nobody is going to simply raid the Amish and take their stuff. They are prepping against YOU.

Also, they aren't actively recruiting outsiders or even welcoming willing outsiders. Can't join, can't overwhelm. And they are so well established in their communities that local law enforcement is 100% on their sidee in any dispute.
