Had someone write me a check for work I did for them, the bank wants ten dollars to cash the check from someone with an account at that bank. I ask them, what if they had written me a check for 5 bucks? Would I owe them five dollars?

I belong to The Police And Fire Credit Union. I hear all these horror stories about other banks. I had one issue with them when I was about 17 and deposited my pay stub instead of my check. Other than that, completely reasonable.

In other words, join a fucking credit union.

Duh. This is why I don't have bank accounts or credit cards, other than a prepaid card that can't be snaked. When I need to use it, I load it with the exact amount. No surprises. My money is always accessible when I possess it. Someone gonna steal my money? Lol, good luck with that.
