i think i have a better idea why my friend always has bad luck

It seems to be 100% his fault from what i can tell, it's just an endless stream of absolutely terrible decision making and very bad judgement calls. My friend was willing to give him a job making good money s to help him out: he proceeded to ghost the guy, never talk to him, and didn't communicate anything to anyone. He constantly complains that he could make it if people would help him and give him a chance, but then he treats the people who try to help him like complete and utter dog shit, and can't understand why he's in the place he is

That guy sounds like a loser, OP.

i think Biblically I'm conflicted as to when it becomes enough to help someone, vs cutting off ties and just moving on with my life. At this point, numerous people have tried helping him, and it always devolves into a complete shit show

Sometimes you have to let them hit rock bottom for them to learn.

I have a nephew like this.

And when he doesnt get his way (29) he will post on FB about how one day I'll be up and I wont help anyone the way no one helps me.

So so gay.

You should punch him in the scrotal region.

My oldest friend is just like this. I love the man like a brother, but good lord he makes bad decisions. The worst is to let his wife manage the household money, including budgeting, savings, and purchasing. She's been doing this for decades and has ruined him and their children. Unfortunately, he has no backbone.

Your current state is a result of the totality of your past behaviors.

Given that you tend to take on the characteristics of the people you spend the most time with, you may want to be careful there.

he has the poor-me syndrome. too much positive feedback from all the sympathy he gets for being down-trodden. he's an addict, just as if he was using crack or porn or whatever.

It almost feels like he doesn't want to better his life at all, and just wants to complain about it. I mean ... in the past week alone, i can think of at least 5 or 6 different events where my first reaction was simply dafuq?!

So he needs better communication skills. You should tell him that.

Help him get a job that requires it because even if he loses that one hopefully it will have taught him something.
