I know they say they don't wanna prosecute people around elections. Perhaps they should just guarantee a speedy prosecution. Then the politicians can not commit any crimes for the period right before they run for office. Not that all crimes charged are accurate, but it would be reasonably easy to just blatantly obey the law for a period of time. If political prosecution happens, it happens. I'm just saying you haven't lost anything by investigating things when they happen instead of years later.
