Not here. Roads are jam packed, cars parked everywhere and space is tight. The trend of the mom mobile (SUV) has made matters worse, the worst drivers now have boxes they can't drive or manoeuvre.
Kick out shit skins, make tests harder for women and basic eye/road tests for over 63s. Done.
I respectfully disagree. Granted I always drive "the gentlemens 9" over the posted speed limit. However it is my experience that the general populace is to retarded, drunken, and unobservant, to be trusted with the current speed limits. It breaks my heart with how many good people are killed by the useless people in automobile collisions. We need a license to speed or something more stringent that keeps women and children off our roadways. I don't have perfect answers but I do have a perfect driving record despite having driven well over a million miles in my professional and personal life
Most speed limits are nothing more than revenue generation.
If it was about 'safety' they would all be set at around the 100-120mph mark by now, as ABS and advancements in suspension and tyre compounds and crumple zones and airbags make cars safer
I live down about 15 miles of "55mph" FTM road. Only spics, old boomers, and non-locals drive the speed limit. The community has pretty much deemed it a 65-70mph zone. Fuck the police.
Ah, those must be actual Canadians (i.e. WHITE) that you're observing. I can tell you that in the liberal shithole that is toronto it's the opposite. Shitty non-Whites are overcrowding this city and are causing more traffic problems with their awful driving. As a result, instead of addressing the immigration problem, the asshats in charge have lowered the speed limits for several roads, increased police presence for speed traps and added more speed and red light cameras. They just ruin things for everyone else.

Probably. Problem is, in Michigan, you go at least 5 over. Ten over will keep most assholes off of your back bumper.
lowered the speed limits for several roads, increased police presence for speed traps and added more speed and red light cameras
I was considering going to a concert in Toronto...since it's 100ish miles closer than the Chicago show and I have the enhanced license that gets me across without needing a passport. How fucked are these speed traps and cameras? I have a radar detector, but that only signals ACTIVE scans. Are they plainly marked or do you have to look for some goofy looking box on the side of the road?
I think the speed camera is one of those big rectangular goofy looking box on the side of the road. Red light cameras are on poles at intersections. There are road signs that will also tell you when you're approaching an area with speed and/or red light cameras.
You automatically get a ticket if you're caught by one of these speed cameras going over the speed limit by at least 15km/h (roughly 9 mph). I'm not sure how advanced the red light cameras are, but I think you will get ticketed if you come to a rolling stop instead of a full stop before making a right.
Speed limits are generally calculated to assume people are going to go 5-10mph over. I go 5 over on city streets, 10 over highway. The problem isn't the speed limit, it's people's proclivity to break laws they don't deem valuable.
No. Speed limits are not calculated. They are generally just applied state wide for the type of road it is.
Who does calculation for speed recommendations are the engineers that design the roads. And the speed they recommend usually ends up matching exactly the speed that people end up going. This happens because there are human factors specialists who know how to make the road communicate its safe operating speed. But all of that gets completely ignored by the government. Where the law happens to match the design of the road people drive the speed limit there, but it's rare because the government doesn't listen to its own engineers.
I mean around here it's kind of good they don't because very few roads are adequate for driving over 30mph. It would be somewhat faster if there were not so many people. But with heavy traffic on one lane roads, it's not really safe period. Those roads are supposed to get widened.

In the old days highways were designed for a certain speed limit based on the grade and number of curved. A long flat and straight highway with limited exits would be set to 90mph.
[ - ] bobdole9 1 point 2.0 yearsJun 24, 2023 20:02:44 ago (+1/-0)
The most fun I had driving was taking my turbo out in Southern Wisconsin in the middle of the night. If those asshats were even thinking about doing something stupid, I'd drop a few gears and spool it up. Between the cold air intake, blowoff valve and exhaust, those stupid shits always ran in the opposite direction.
That only applies to highways in states that accept federal funding for road construction. Sadly, that's every state these days. If more states were self sufficient, the 55 rule would be null and void
If you go 8 over you’ll never get pulled over. If you go 10 over that’s usually when they’ll start pullin you over anything past 10 you gonna eventually meet the cops
We got posted 80mph out here and most run around 72-75mph. Posted 75mph idiots run 85-90mph. Going point A to B isnt always a race. Most US Interstates are far to crowded for long speed(150+mph)runs. Speed out runs skill/talent everytime. Faster you go the faster you fall off. 100% Guarantee It's not if Its when So get out there and fuck it all up.
