Sir, your analysis has failed to take into account the "me factor" inherent in all this. Putin is old (70) and reputed to have serious illnesses. Also he faces the risk of being assassinated or toppled. He doesn't seem that concerned about his fellow Russians which is why he sacrificed 200,000 of them in the Ukraine. Putin could well have the attitude that as he's going to be smashed why not take as many of his enemy with him.

Putin has carried out the duties authorized by the Russian Parlement to the tee, doing nothing that has not been authorized. He has the support of 80% of his country, three times more popular in Russia than Biden is in the US. There is being to suggest Putin, or Russia, is going to be "smashed". The "counter offensive" has stalled just like the US government had predicted.

The idea that Putin will escalate things is preposterous. The US and NATO countries are being bled dry. The USD is no longer the world's reserve currency and the BRICS nations now have a higher GDP than the G7.

Russia is not going to be beaten on their own border by the US, NATO, or anyone else.
