@Sector7...I've got a shooting gallery in my basement with a 30ft drift...the backing is laminated hemlock at 12" thick in front of the concrete wall, the .45 penetrates through leaving a big hole, the 110grn 9mm does the same with a smaller hole...I did up some lite .44mag loads, (3grns of HS110) 240grn WC, and the 1st rnd hit a knot and because of the lite charge it came right back at me and caught my inside thigh and it fucking stung, but I never ever shoot without eye and hearing protection....ricochets are just as damaging or lethal as a direct hit.
@Peckerwood...just a point of interest, a number of decades back Italy was being terrorized by the "Red Brigade", their signature tactic was "knee capping" where targets were peppered with rnds to the knees and legs resulting in a slow bleed-out death...but it's messy.

Around the home 12 gauge with #4 buckshot shorties out of a KS7 near the bed for any hallway encounters. 12 gauge with #4 buckshot 3" magnums out of a Remington 970, for front door and driveway encounters. 9mm Critical Duty out of a P320 for walking around town. 9mm Critical Duty out of a LC9 for non permissive areas. 357 Magnum honey Badger solid copper out of a 327 for wandering in the woods. Clean up matters little to me, bleach covers many sins.

This is a stupid and pointless debate. You’re probably not going to be accurate enough for a head shot unless you’re point blank. Gut shot isn’t likely to be lethal. Chest cavity is where you aim because if you don’t hit their heart they will drown in their own blood as their lungs fill up.
Forget the name of the drill but I liked the one where you train from draw and quickly put two in the chest and then a third in the head. General idea is torso is your best odds but on the odd chance they're wearing body armor you're used to following up on the smaller target.
