I'm so fucking glad I'm getting into real estate appraisals. Most of appraisers are 65 and older, and even now a lot are retiring. I know because I called at least 100 of them in my area and anyone older is winding down or closing up shop.

As it stands now, I could be actually working 3 days a week (not considering answering calls, emails, texts, etc.) making right at $100k a year, on top of making my own schedule outside of having to occasionally rely on others for inspection dates/times. Outside of that though, clients don't give a crap when I work so long as I'm done with the assignment by the deadline.

In training now, give another 6-7 months and I should be done. Training sucks, time wise. I feel like I don't know exactly what I'm doing most of the time and it's usually a 9am-7pm sort of day. However, I'm still a total rookie. Just hit 100hrs yesterday, and I need 1000 to be able to get my license. It isn't rocket surgery, but you do have to remember a lot of little things and how to do x thing vs y thing on z report type. It can get a little messy in the head.

Given time and experience though, Hell, it'll mostly be second nature.

And training... it's only going to be for a couple more months. Annnnd in about 5 weeks I get a week long vacation.

Really can't complain. I can bitch, yeah, but can't complain.


Nobody does my field because nobody thinks to do it, and to get into doing it isn't just "I have degree I have job". It's a lot like a trade in some ways, just much less physical labor.

Absolutely true. And it's important to note that the financial sector generates ZERO wealth. All it does is move wealth around with the explicit aim of moving more wealth to the actor. And since no additional wealth is being generated that means others have to lose wealth.

At the same time the sectors of the economy that do produce wealth and contribute to growth are the ones that have been decimated by the greedy short sighted fucks in the financial sector. A relatively small handful of 'smart guys' have gotten obscenely rich at the cost of all of the rest of us. Some are 'fortunate' enough to be allowed to receive small profits from their stock portfolios. But the rest are literally "the poor" and are getting poorer with each passing day.
