Driving down the old beat up 'main road' in Slab City felt a bit like The Road I must say.

Any minute it was as if I was expecting some shirtless middle aged dude with a beard to jump out in the street with a sword. The desert environment also adds an apocalyptic feel suitable to the comparison.
