And while the volcano is closer to rupture, that does not necessarily mean an eruption will take place, Kilburn said. Even if the crust cracks, “the magma needs to be pushing up at the right location for the eruption to occur”

Sounds like scientists covering their ass. There was a big earthquake in Italy about 10 years ago and the politicians threw scientists under the bus for not warning everyone. It was really the politicians fault for not being prepared. Anyone with a history book knew that region had a major quake like clockwork for as long as people have been keeping records in Italy.

So now, the scientist have to say…eh, it could erupt…but probably not…but still…
