I saw a poor manatee out of the water on treasure island this weekend and while we were pushing it back into the gulf it started screaming some gibberish that eerily sounded like it had a New York accent. Obviously there is the massive problem with sugar and corn syrup in everything. Next on the list of suspects is seed oils, followed closely by soy fucking with everyone's hormones, thus contributing to weight gain. Maybe add a dash of the American "clean your plate" philosophy, but I honestly doubt that's a major player.
Not one of these things seems like it is exclusive to the US. Japan gets a ton more soy than we ever would, but they do use a lot less sugar, no idea on the rest. As for europe, I honestly don't know enough to be sure, but I wouldn't expect there food to be all that different from here in the States.
Personally, I avoid soy like the plague, and I've (almost) completely cut out seed oils. I won't touch the corn syrup water, and since I learned they've started vaxxing beef and pork I don't eat out anymore. I've cooked virtually all my own meals now for a long time and at least half of those are meat + sauteed or grilled veg (asparagus, brussel sprouts, sugar snap peas, and broccoli are some of my favorites) + some buttered toast, and sometime fresh mushrooms. Admittedly, I do like rice and pasta, which I normally eat with a homemade garlic parmesan cream sauce. 95% of the time I stay away from the goyslop (like chips or frozen garbage).
I'm 6'3 and naturally skinny.
All that and it's still a battle to maintain my weight! I've had to get draconian lately just to stop the slow slide into landwhale status!
If anyone else has any more ideas as to what I big difference between the States and Europe then I've love to know. Self improvement is a continual process, and any information that helps me to fight back against this increasingly fucked system is invaluable.

Similarly with the dairy over there, which is usually from grass fed hormone free cows. I get my flour from France and my cheese from France, Italy, Switzerland, and Holland. As for meat, stick to local ranchers.
That’s for general health. Now regarding the fitness level in Europe, one mustn’t forget the amount of physical exercise they get just by being in Europe. The cities and towns are designed in a way that encourages and necessitates walking. Many studies have proven walking in a low-mid pace is the best thing for fitness and health, way better than being a gym rat. Secondly, there are cultural practices in different towns throughout Europe that naturally keep one fit. These practices include eating just enough but not to stuffed, not eating while rushing, chewing more, eating a mixed meal for lunch and dinner, and not sleeping right after dinner. Finally, let’s not forget genes and epigenetics that certainly come into play.

Spent a summer in Europe about 15 yrs ago, & everyone was thin, & seeing someone obese was uncommon. This struck me because all these people were constantly eating & drinking, at practically all hours of day, far more than what I thought Americans normally did. They also did not work as hard as Americans did, in my opinion. The one thing I did NOT see were fast food restaurants on every corner. Maybe one McDonalds per city. That was really the only difference I saw; be curious how it is over there now.
It's exactly right. I would love to have a spouse but I've been all over the US -- even in CO where the obesity rates are lowset/lower -- and I will not settle for a ham beast.

Dunno where you were obviously but I was in coastal California from LA to Santa Barbara in April and saw plenty of attractive women. Not counting the tourists, females up this way tend to be pretty attractive. It's been awhile, but one of the big culture shocks in moving to California was the lack of land whales. Not so lacking anymore, but the ratios are probably unchanged.
I've actually started looking forward to seeing some sand nigger teen or 20YO chicks at the parks or beaches because even though they pretty universally tend to be chunky -- thanks to a diet high in carbs low in protein -- they are mostly not obese. And that's because they still have some sense of pride in their appearance. That, of course, is accompanied with the understanding that once they snag a man and start a family they can let their appearance go to shit.
