The news of the spy base comes as China has been making a dramatic push into Latin America for years now, much in the way that the communist Soviet Union did, but arguably, China’s doing it to far more success. The CCP’s push into Latin America is coinciding with a massive push into Africa, and is part of China’s “global south” strategy – to create an empire of third-world nations in the southern hemisphere to rise up against the American and Western-dominated power structure that still has massive influence over geopolitics.
