Noticed this and it annoys me too. It’s Kiev, and it’s pronounced like the chicken dish. This bullshit only started for Kiev after the war started. Just like we don’t call Munich Munchen there’s no reason for us to call Kiev anything but Kiev.

Same with croissant. It's an English word. It's called transliteration. And in English it is pronounced exactly like you heard it growing up.
