Oh great Im dead.

[ - ] Spaceman84 [op] 1 point 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 01:21:06 ago (+2/-1)

Good. If you need fake sugar to survive you shouldn't pass on your obesity genes.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 08:43:50 ago (+0/-0)

Lots of people use it so they dont get fat.

[ - ] AOUsYamaka 0 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 08:45:57 ago (+0/-0)

Stevia, allulose, and erythritol are great alternatives.

[ - ] IfuckedYerMum 1 point 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 13:45:39 ago (+1/-0)

Erythritol increases your risk of heart attack and stroke.

[ - ] AOUsYamaka 0 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 14:43:00 ago (+0/-0)*

I looked at that study subjects were mostly obese and had type 2 diabetes. And let’s remember everything in moderation. Cane sugar isn’t bad for you in moderation and neither are most alcohol sugars. High fructose corn syrup on the other hand is garbage and in most prepackaged foods in America.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 09:42:48 ago (+0/-0)

Yeah I think supposedly aspartame, saccharin and aceK are probably the worst. Sucralose and allulose are maybe not as bad and erythritol, xylitol etc are also probably not too bad. Stevia might be the best option but its also been shown to be mutagenic in high doses.

I don’t know what to do. Apparently everything I eat is lethal,

[ - ] Ragnar 1 point 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 18:16:10 ago (+1/-0)

Have you heard of eating real food?
Quit your bullshit

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 1.9 yearsJun 3, 2023 12:20:41 ago (+0/-0)

Real food too. You come up with a “healthy diet” and I will find research that show it causes disease.

[ - ] Ragnar 0 points 1.9 yearsJun 3, 2023 22:13:04 ago (+0/-0)

Typical woman. Typical npc.
Of course you rely on “studies”.

The only thing studies prove is that studies can show anything studies want.

No

Don’t worry, she’s barren and over the hill

[ - ] NukeAmerica 0 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 06:15:19 ago (+0/-0)

Same. I put this in my coffee everyday. I fucking had a gut feeling that this stuff was bad.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 2 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 09:25:35 ago (+2/-0)

Perhaps the biggest problem from artificial sweetners is their effects on the gut biome. They may cause the increase of certain “bad” bacteria while supressing the good ones. You could add a probiotic or prebiotic if you didnt wnat to quit the fake sugar. Ive cut way back (especially since I quit coffee) but I still use one or two packets a day plus sometimes I drink diet ginger ale. I used to use maybe 10 or 15 packets of splenda a day.

I would guess the biggest risk from this stuff is probably bowel cancer. But there are things you can do to lower your risk on that.

[ - ] ScheduledSuicide 0 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 07:16:35 ago (+1/-1)

You could try Stevia (compounds are steviol glycosides, which have about 50 to 300 times the sweetness of sugar, are heat-stable, pH-stable, and not fermentable. The human body does not metabolize the glycosides in stevia, so it contains zero calories as a non-nutritive sweetener). You can grow it!

[ - ] PostWallHelena 2 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 08:53:52 ago (+2/-0)

Thanks. There does seem to be evidence that stevia could cause cancer. https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/cpb/50/7/50_7_1007/_article

I still think its probably healthier than the artificial stuff. I cut way back on my artificial sweetners because I found out they really screw with the gut biome. But Im really concerned with what Ive already consumed over the last 30 years or so. A good gut biome will slow all kinds of degenrative processes in the body associated with aging and chronic disease. I wonder how stevia stacks up in that department.

[ - ] VitaminSieg -1 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 11:27:19 ago (+0/-1)

Stevia strips the biofilm off the parasites that cause cancer, leaving them exposed so that your body can recognise them as parasites and attack them. Stevia good.

[ - ] Ragnar 0 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 18:18:29 ago (+0/-0)

Stevia is a carcinogen and a sterilisation agent

[ - ] Ragnar 0 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 18:14:16 ago (+0/-0)

Yay kekekeke

[ - ] IfuckedYerMum 6 points 1.9 yearsJun 1, 2023 23:42:25 ago (+7/-1)

Just use sugar. It's not THAT fucking bad for you. At the very least, it's not as bad as artificial shit.

[ - ] Spaceman84 [op] 4 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 01:23:47 ago (+4/-0)

Sugar is better for you. Artifical sweeteners cause the body to release insulin in response to a sweet flavor as soon as you taste it. It happens immediately. Your body is prepared to metabolize sugar, but there isn't any sugar. Elevated insulin levels lead to diabetes.

[ - ] chrimony 3 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 08:11:43 ago (+3/-0)

Just go without. I have a massive sweet tooth, and it was leading to health problems, so I just cut sugar out of my diet. Not easy to do, but necessary and doable.

[ - ] AOUsYamaka 0 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 08:47:23 ago (+0/-0)

That would lead to low blood sugar not high.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 09:36:44 ago (+0/-0)

Well I think he means it could lead to insulin insensitivity which is common in T2 diabetes. How are you doing? I havent seen you around alot.

[ - ] AOUsYamaka 0 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 14:44:16 ago (+0/-0)

Yeah I figured. I’m okay been focusing on myself and family. How have you been?

[ - ] PostWallHelena 0 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 15:01:54 ago (+0/-0)

Good. Im doing okay. Enjoying the nice weather we’re having.

Artifical sweeteners cause the body to release insulin in response to a sweet flavor as soon as you taste it. It happens immediately

That happens with sugar too and at a much higher level. Sugar alone is going to raise your insulin more than artificial sweetner alone.

[ - ] Belfuro 0 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 03:05:36 ago (+0/-0)

Plants are the biggest killer of humans.

Why is this fact so ignored?

Ps plant is synonymous with sugar. All aspects of a plant is sugar. Hello photosynthesis

What matters is if humans can digest it or not. Ie starch vs Fibre.

So yeah go for gold with Fibre but it has no health benefits nor negatives.

[ - ] Pasty 3 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 05:49:40 ago (+3/-0)

That's a dumb response, plant fibre is useful for good bowel movements.

[ - ] ScheduledSuicide 2 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 07:24:14 ago (+2/-0)

It seems like it's processed things that are bad for people. Like orange juice... it's bad for you because it is all the juice with much less of the fiber. Just eat an orange. The fiber filling your stomach will tell you when you've had enough (and probably deliver the sugar in more manageable doses). Similarly, if you want sugar, go gnaw on sugar cane.

[ - ] x0x7 1 point 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 08:16:15 ago (+1/-0)

And gut bacteria. Fiber has a huge impact on mortality rate. They did a study on Amish where they got some to eat even more fiber than they already do, and it caused a reduction on mortality. So basically it's impossible to get too much.

[ - ] o0shad0o 1 point 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 08:18:44 ago (+1/-0)

Fiber is also created by plants. But considering plants are the basis of the food chain, and the food chain is the basis of life, and if you're alive you will eventually die, then yeah, plants kill humans?

Also, at the moment, the biggest killer of humans is "unknown causes".

[ - ] PostWallHelena -1 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 09:45:38 ago (+0/-1)

Oh no not the plant guy again. Chimpanzees and gorilllas eat nothing but plants. Are you suggesting that their diet is harmful to them? Or that we have a radically different physiology?

[ - ] ModernGuilt 3 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 06:21:54 ago (+3/-0)

Just use sugar or honey

[ - ] 9000timesempty 2 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 05:09:39 ago (+2/-0)

Lol. It has chlorine in its molecular structure. Of course it damages DNA.

Whoever pays can poison. That's how the world works.

[ - ] PostWallHelena 1 point 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 10:03:51 ago (+1/-0)

Salt has chlorine in it. You body needs chlorine.

[ - ] WanderingToast 2 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 10:36:35 ago (+2/-0)

Fun fact re: Stevia

Indigenous tribes used Stevia as birth control. Women would drink 1 Stevia tea every morning to prevent pregnancy.

[ - ] Belfuro 1 point 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 03:07:58 ago (+2/-1)

Stevia is a natural option.
Or monk fruit.

Synthetic sweeteners are neuro toxins.

For fizzy drinks, kombucha is really your own option

[ - ] PostWallHelena 1 point 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 09:54:56 ago (+1/-0)

Stevia is processed with ethanol. Steviol can also damage DNA https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/cpb/50/7/50_7_1007/_article

[ - ] Prairie 0 points 1.9 yearsJun 2, 2023 08:32:26 ago (+0/-0)

"Oh please, sure, it's made with chlorine, but it's totally different."

[ - ] letsgetit -1 points 1.9 yearsJun 1, 2023 23:46:22 ago (+1/-2)

Yes just like they used to tell people not to eat eggs or butter because it will kill you
