Horn africans are actually about 50% middle eastern and they speak afro-asiatic languages related to arab and hebrew. I think middle eastern agrarian populations settled those areas ~ 8000 years ago during a humid period, and then nearby black hunter gatherers were gradually assimilated from the bottom up. The “Mota Man” fossil (4500 ybp) exemplifies this. The kingdoms of Kush, Nubia, Punt — known via their contact with Egypt— were probably more caucasian than they are today. It think calling them caucasian is going a bit far. But they are hybrids, like the Indians, and a result of a significant back-to-africa migration.

Genetics from Eurasia pervades all of SS Africa in fact, and is probably how they developed farming and pastoralism , but it is particularly high in the horn and sahel.

The “before” picture shows where ethiopian genetics are from before they “fixed” it. A match to Khoi-San populations is probably due to the fact that they were indigenous to east Africa before the Bantu expansions.
