American airlines. The pilot missed our home airport. He passed it and had to turn around. Ever heard of that? Things are really going downhill!

Yeah, but that could just be ATC routing or instrument approach paths. Heck, even a diversion for other aircraft in emergency.

He could have even been flying to go to the favored runway.

How far was it passed by? An hour or like twenty minutes with a few turns? That matters a lot.

Well it's not like they get to do whatever they want. ATC directs them if they're close to an airport. I'm not a pilot like Peckerwood. But lots of things are possible.

I have heard of pilots who are not paying attention failing to check in with destination ground control. Would be a big fuckup I think.
