Grains of truth here and there. But, fundamentally, yes, the Russian narrative is a deception. As it so often is.

I don't have the time or energy to address everything there. But in general I would advise you, whenever someone is trying to convince you of something, and showing you "proof", to ask yourself if what they're showing you actually matches what they're telling you. Or if it's merely designed to hijack your emotions while they spin you a tale.

"Look at all these shoes!" and "Look at all that hair!" while telling you "See how many poor jews the evil Nazis murdered?!" and "See how they used jewish hair to stuff their pillows?!"

But is a pile of old worn out shoes, and a pile of shorn dirty hair, really proof of all that? Or is it proof of them taking care of the inmates, providing them with a fresh pair of shoes as part of the intake, and shaving their hair to avoid introducing Typhus-carrying lice into the resident population? One of these clearly makes more sense than the other. And yet the deception worked on most of humanity. Clearly, you're not immune to that kind of manipulation either.

One thing that's actually true and verifiable in the article is that Ukraine passed laws to promote the use of Ukrainian in official channels and make it the primary language throughout Ukraine. So, if you wanted to live in Ukraine, you would need to learn Ukrainian. Wow, the horror. Oh, the humanity. To think you would have to actually learn the language of a country if you want to live there. In current year, no less!

What is not true, however, is the Russian claims that the Russian language was being outlawed. This is patently false. Nobody was prevented from speaking Russian or teaching their children Russian. In fact, in the video in the second link, in one of the early scenes, with all those "ultra nationalistic Nazi Ukrainian thugs" who were "persecuting the poor innocent Russian"... they were all speaking Russian. Not Ukrainian. Russian. Why were the Nazi Ukrainians speaking Russian? Hm? Lies and deception, no matter how you spin it.

By the way, in case you're not aware, the Russians actually did outlaw Ukrainian in Ukraine during the Soviet Union. Ukrainians were completely forbidden from speaking their native tongue, on their own soil. Forbidden from teaching their children, even in the privacy of their own home. If you got caught, you were sent to prison for many years, or worse. Right up until the fall of the Soviet Union just 30 odd years ago. They nearly eradicated the language. None of the youth spoke a word of it anymore. The Ukrainians resurrected it, out of defiance, when the communist empire collapsed.

Yet another example of the "accuse them of what you do to them" mantra. Not to mention accusing Ukrainians of genocide, after what Russians did to them in the Holodomor.

Tl;dr: Yes. Russians lie. About fucking everything.
