It's not that the woman is stupid, it's that she's gullible. The reason she struggles with the problem is that a man has asked her the question and she implicitly trusts him. The way in which he phrases the question directs her to focus on the question of 12 or 8 slices. Note that she mentions she's not a fat cunt who can eat 12 slices. At no time does she consider that he is tricking her, because what sort of awful man would do that? She is not in the business of question the premise of what he has presented to her - she trust and depends upon him to get that part right. She correctly interprets her role to be deciding the amount of pizza to be consumed, not worrying about matters of overall pizza volume.

I expect that if you take the same woman and have another woman ask her this question: "If you take a large pizza and slice it into 8 slices, or 12 slices, which gives you more pizza?" she'd be able to answer it correctly.

tl;dr: she's a woman and he's a man who doesn't understand women
