Meat is awesome but I like some veggies because I legit like them and they add variety. Broccoli is great. Asparagus is great. What summer picnic/BBQ is complete w/o some nice ears of corn?

Corn is one of the worst things to eat. In most countries, it is strictly cattle feed to make the cows fat for slaughter. It puts you at higher risk of cancers, and liver problems containing mycotoxins and fungi, packed full of insoluble fibers, packed full of the more harmful monosaccharides, basically liquid gay and diabetes.

To make corn edible you need to buy it as masa or process it through nixtamalization with lye or a solution of ash and lime.

Everyone has a lot of big opinions when it comes to food, most often egregiously wrong that I cant be bothered addressing right now, but corn in most forms is on par with HFCC, soybean oil and other nighmare food choices.

Corn is waaaaaay too high for carbs. No fats, no protein.

I'm not saying you're wrong for liking corn, but if you're going to go keto, then corn ain't the way.

Carbs and starches are pretty much like sugar. Reach for healthy fats, exercise, vegetables, some fruits, Seeds, Roots. Hunter gatherer and Mediterranean diets, can't go wrong with exercise and those.

Butter is my go to fat. I can't stand the taste of olive oil, and butter is better with eggs and mostly anything else.

seeds / nuts are full of phytoestrogens. Having a little isn't that bad but I cut them out except for very rarely. Roots are full of starch too, potatoes, carrots, beets, etc. Basically if the veggie isn't green it should be occasional.

Shred your potatoes, and strain them under water. The volume of starch that comes off is insane. After it's gone, you're left with something that is otherwise quite nutrient dense, easy to grow, and easy to store.

Some potatoes are better than others. Fingerlings, Purple potatoes, and Yams come to mind. There will be family gatherings where you are asked to include them

I gradually settled on mostly meat, some dairy (cheese), and veggies. Minimal carbs.
I've stuck with it for a couple decades.

The Mediterranean is less hostile.
You have to decide how to and what to consume.
Not some busted can of biscuits TELLING YOU a protocol you must follow.
They cant market the Mediterranean diet.

Been vegan for over 10 years with no issue. Also gained over 20 pounds of lean mass in that time. Feel better than ever so I don't understand what the issue is.

Once dated a model who was vegan. Remember sitting with her in a cafe and I asked her why she was vegan, about to give her some logic and she simply replied with:

I do this--you don't say it, but it's the Keto diet. Minimize the carbs to about 30-50/day. But it means increasing fat intake by huge amounts, which goes against the normal programming--"But that'll make me fat"...

It's not easy, or cheap, because preparing food takes longer than you're used to. I grill burgers or steak 3 and 4 at a time, they'll last maybe two days.

The hardest part is getting into ketosis. The headaches, feeling lousy--all symptoms of the "keto flu"--last three days or so. Eat an apple and a banana, or two pieces of bread in a day and you're no longer in ketosis. So you have to start all over. That part sucks.

Some vegetables fit this profile just fine, like broccoli, asparagus, salad mix. Easiest thing to eat is a steak salad (I use about a 3/4 to a pound of steak), throw in some cucumber, a shit ton of cheese, and lo-cal dressing--it has the least amount of carbs, I've found (which is odd).

Get yourself a smoker and enjoy life. Smoking pork butt for half a day will give you pulled pork for a week. Chicken breasts can be done in 60-90 minutes and they're juicy.

Doesn't need to be a super fancy smoker...just invest in a four probe thermometer and aluminum trays.
