Yeah, it matters for insurance. No, it doesn't matter all that much for overall population numbers. The mortality rate is very low until you start getting into advanced age. For example, a male at age 30 has a 0.19% chance of dying in any given year. Times three that would be 0.57%. But in reality it's not even double. So no, the population isn't going to collapse.
