So, when your server has no experience and couldn't give a fuck about refilling your drink or making sure everything is good, you'll know why.

[ - ] TheGreatWar 7 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 11:35:18 ago (+7/-0)

I'll give you a few days to look over the menu.

[ - ] Steelerfish 5 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 11:03:04 ago (+5/-0)

You say that as if it’s not already the case nowadays……

[ - ] FreeinTX 3 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 11:09:48 ago (+3/-0)

Not in places that I tip well.

[ - ] SecretHitler 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 14:58:13 ago (+0/-0)

Nice try we all know niggers don't tip

[ - ] FreeinTX 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 19:38:33 ago (+0/-0)

I'm a Mack tipper. I bartenders in college for a while.

[ - ] JoesLegHair 3 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 12:56:17 ago (+3/-0)

Don't hire blacks.

[ - ] MasklessTheGreat 2 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 15:35:20 ago (+2/-0)

I just left a place and went somewhere else solely because the bartender was a nigger. Fuck that.

[ - ] Imsickofmakingusernames 2 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 13:48:56 ago (+2/-0)

Then you don’t go back and the place just goes under.

[ - ] FreeinTX 1 point 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 13:51:56 ago (+1/-0)

Exactly. Good places with great food go out of business because they pay shit waitresses a "living wage" instead of attracting quality waitresses who would otherwise make good money serving good food and making people happy for great tips.

You always have the worst takes, don't you?

[ - ] FreeinTX 1 point 2 yearsMay 15, 2023 06:35:51 ago (+1/-0)

Right. Nigger, I've seen it first hand. Eliminate tips, Jack up your prices to pay a "living wage" ($15/hr) and you get shitty waitstaff that's so bad, you won't come back no matter how good the food is.

When tipping is allowed, good waitstaff make up to $50/hr. They give good service.

[ - ] AntiPostmodernist 0 points 2 yearsMay 15, 2023 09:28:21 ago (+0/-0)

You are conflating issues together, trying to make me seem like I support something I don't.

I want tipping gone so that working at a restaurant becomes like any other job, you get paid by the hours worked.

I want tipping gone because it ruins my dining experience, I hate having to calculate the amount I contribute to the wages of the workers who served me, just let the restaurant calculate the price I have to pay and factor in the wage of my server.

This has nothing to do with the UBI proposal, which I disagree with, this is simply how restaurants should operate for the sake of the convenience of the customer, it's how American restaurants used to operate and the restaurants in most of the world's countries are run.

[ - ] FreeinTX 0 points 2 yearsMay 15, 2023 13:21:43 ago (+0/-0)

I didn't say anything about UBI. Read that sign. They part the waitstaff a "living wage" which, in Austin, is $15/hr according to the city council.

Tipping separates shit workers who work a $15/hr job from good help that can earn up to $50/hr making tips as a nice place with good food.

I want a waitstaff that do a good job because they know it pays to do a good job, versus some dumb fuck doing what is expected of a $15/hr worker.

[ - ] HeavyBrain 0 points 2 yearsMay 15, 2023 05:31:03 ago (+0/-0)

Sooo dont go back?

I works for the rest of the world.

Japan see tipping as an insult and they have way better service than you can get in most non high end places in the US.

[ - ] FreeinTX 0 points 2 yearsMay 15, 2023 06:32:45 ago (+0/-0)

Cool story, bro

[ - ] HeavyBrain 0 points 2 yearsMay 15, 2023 06:41:51 ago (+0/-0)

I know right.

Well back you go to your cheap food that gets tax and 20% added to it.

[ - ] FreeinTX 0 points 2 yearsMay 15, 2023 06:58:33 ago (+0/-0)

Yeah and because no tips, it's higher taxes for higher priced food so that some shitty waitress can afford rent in her studio home on $15/hr.

Whereas before, the food was good, the food was not nearly as expensive, and the great fucking waitstaff made $50/hr because everyone loved their service.

[ - ] RabbiKinderschtupper 11 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 11:26:32 ago (+11/-0)

All the sudden, those servers are making way less money and learning what taxes are.

[ - ] con77 2 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 12:19:00 ago (+2/-0)

Yuuup

[ - ] noonefromnowhere 10 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 09:48:07 ago (+10/-0)

That'll be $25 for that hamburger.

[ - ] La_Chalupacabra 12 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 09:56:35 ago (+12/-0)

And suddenly everyone begins to understand the wisdom of having a stay-at-home spouse.

[ - ] ruck_feddit 5 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 11:34:18 ago (+6/-1)

$25 and refill your own drinks nigger, since there's no incentive for the waitress to check on you.

[ - ] Imsickofmakingusernames 1 point 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 13:49:57 ago (+1/-0)

Except for the business itself failing due to shit service.

[ - ] FreeinTX 1 point 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 14:02:28 ago (+1/-0)

Restaurants work on thin margins as it is. Someone who is gonna pay $25 for a hamburger better get great service, but at that price the Restaurant is only able to hire "living wage" help.

And, tipping is a great way to weed out the shit help without relying on costumers to complain instead of simply not coming back.

There are a few places in Austin doing this. I know of 2. Both have good food, but the service is horrible and now the higher prices make those places not worth going to.

Shake Shack, I think, tried it and stopped.

[ - ] ruck_feddit 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 16:33:41 ago (+0/-0)

Exactly, that's of no concern to your waitress.

[ - ] Clubberlang 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 19:59:03 ago (+1/-1)

Welcome to Australia.

It's easier to walk up to the bar and get beer than waiting for the waitress to never show up to take your drink order.

[ - ] lolxd 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 15:01:53 ago (+0/-0)

It already is $25 for a hamburger some places.

[ - ] SecretHitler 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 20:33:37 ago (+0/-0)

Already is. Sounds like you're the type that falls for monetary shell games.

[ - ] HeavyBrain 0 points 2 yearsMay 15, 2023 05:34:06 ago (+0/-0)

So like it always been after tax and tip, just now it bothers you because you see that actual number?

[ - ] noonefromnowhere 0 points 2 yearsMay 23, 2023 06:37:09 ago (+0/-0)

It'll bother them. The left assumes there are infinite money machines everywhere so when they say "door dash should just pay their workers more" or whatever, they don't realize their asking for higher prices.

[ - ] HeavyBrain 0 points 2 yearsMay 23, 2023 08:00:17 ago (+0/-0)

Well then they are truly gone, if they actually don't realize that. even an 8 yo was able to understand why we can just give everyone a million dollars after an short explanation.

[ - ] Tallest_Skil 5 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 09:41:33 ago (+5/-0)

lol, “global standard.”

[ - ] UncleDoug [op] 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 10:03:14 ago (+2/-2)

Tipping culture not the global standard

Ukraine, Poland, Kazakhstan, Isreal, Egypt, Chile and North America demand shekels.

The other 156 countries have found a way to factor in the final price based on the cost of goods and services.

[ - ] AryanPrime 2 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 12:50:55 ago (+3/-1)

country country country country country country continent

calls dollars shekels unironically

filthy kike lmfao, you people never stop huh

[ - ] Artificial_Intelligentile 4 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 10:39:41 ago (+4/-0)

in germany its both.

you get a decent wage, but if your service is good you can expect 5 to 10 percent as tips.

i have once given thirty percent to a cute waitress, and the smile and thanks she gave me was totally worth it =)

[ - ] con77 3 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 12:18:40 ago (+3/-0)

[ - ] Cpt_Dirt 5 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 13:10:58 ago (+5/-0)

How could you tell? She was wearing a burqa.

[ - ] HeavyBrain 0 points 2 yearsMay 15, 2023 05:36:25 ago (+0/-0)

Yeah but that hussy flashed some ankle.

[ - ] Clubberlang 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 20:02:25 ago (+0/-0)

5 to 10 percent as tips.

Remember those days?
Now it's starts at 18% and I hardly see the waitress and the foods more expensive but they expect the same tip.

Doesn't work that way sweet tits.

[ - ] NuckFiggers 2 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 13:43:13 ago (+2/-0)

I haven't worked in too many restaurants but it's more than most and in every single restaurant the managers were fucking over the floor staff in some way. It's pretty much a given in that industry.

I guarantee management is getting more out of this. This isn't done out of the goodness of their hearts.

[ - ] Clubberlang 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 20:03:31 ago (+0/-0)

Good, fuck tipping. It ruins the dining experience.
Also I don't care if the meal costs a bit more, I expect to pay a lot when i go eat what others cook for me.

[ - ] TheOriginal1Icemonkey 1 point 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 09:45:51 ago (+1/-0)

How moronic. Factoring the cost of labor into pricing is business 101, as labor costs are the largest expense in operating a business. The cost of goods sold is not part of this equation.

[ - ] UncleDoug [op] 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 09:57:39 ago (+2/-2)

Instead of buying a $12 burger and paying $3.60 additionally as a 30% "American tip", you pay $15.60 for the burger done and dusted, leaving actual tipping to be reserved for exceptional service.

Only in America are the labour costs covered by what you call tipping. But American (((tipping culture))) is essentially just gaslighting the consumer to pay the employers stipend and largest business expense, the labour costs.

[ - ] Imsickofmakingusernames 1 point 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 13:52:09 ago (+1/-0)

Exactly. It’s fucking bullshit. It’s the hidden cost we are being fucked over with. If they provide shit service they will just go under like every other business.

[ - ] UncleDoug [op] 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 20:59:11 ago (+0/-0)

It's outrageous that anyone can have so much copium in this thread, as to legitimately defend the position that an employer is not required to pay the employee, rather guilt trip the consumer into paying this egregious cost.

[ - ] Sector7 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 12:24:51 ago (+0/-0)

you pay $15.60 for the burger

Lol.

[ - ] Clubberlang 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 20:07:03 ago (+0/-0)

Plus 12% sales tax because you still think the state will turn red again.

[ - ] TheOriginal1Icemonkey -1 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 10:34:40 ago (+0/-1)

Contrarily, these restaurant employees are paid very well where I live. They get tips on top of $20 per hour.

[ - ] ItsOk2bArian 0 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 12:55:49 ago (+0/-0)

What restaurant is paying anyone that isn't management $20 an hour? Maybe in NYC or LA where $20/hour is still poverty level income

[ - ] SteppingRazor 0 points 2 yearsMay 15, 2023 10:17:14 ago (+0/-0)

Many won’t like this. If you’re an attractive bartender or waitress you will make much more than this living wage.

[ - ] Thyhorrorcosmic103 -1 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 20:04:08 ago (+0/-1)

Sounds like communist garbage to me, faggot.

[ - ] Not_C -1 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 16:20:58 ago (+0/-1)

Fucking Communists.

Price fixing to force people to pay the same amount regardless of quality.
Businesses forcing the competent workers to make up for the incompetent ones.
Taking money from those that excel at their job and giving it to the unskilled and lazy workers.
Removing incentives for people to master their craft.
Holding back those who have potential, while propping up the inferior.
Taking as much taxes as possible.

Communism is slowly taking over the world, and the people are cheering.

[ - ] Love240 -1 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 14:26:12 ago (+0/-1)

There's no 'globe' as we are geo-centric, and this is not a world-wide standard.

[ - ] HeyJames -4 points 2.1 yearsMay 14, 2023 10:13:31 ago (+1/-5)

If someone's greatest ambition in life is working a job that requires no education or technical skill then I don't know how much i can bring myself to care. Everyone seems to want something for nothing. Life isn't like that, when you grow up and become an adult nobody gives a flying fuck about you.

It took me years of hard grinding, ambition, physical discomfort, studying, and lots of blood sweat and tears to become successful and be among the top earners not only in my trade but in general.

To be perfectly honest worker solidarity and unions are not a bad thing in trades such as Ironworker, electrical, industrial etc. But then you get basic bitch fucks in the most entry level positions wanting to get paid at the highest level without any self improvement and it dilutes the message. They scream about how they're "skilled workers" too.

It's cute. Bring them on site one day to overhaul an engine or run some heavy copper double aught to a 480v industrial system in the 100 degree weather. These 'workers' will find out real quickly that they're not shit and are impersonating real tradesmen

It used to be that unions were a good thing. Then unions started getting political and controlled by men in suits. I don't believe the union institutions are inherently bad. They ensure consistent pay on jobs, provide training and good benefits. However like any organization are prone to corruption. The downfall of unions coincides with nigger rights and feminism. Once they were allowed in everything kind of collapsed.
