I know I've saved it someplace, but after 30 minutes of searching my many folders I've come up with nothing. I googled it and let bing take a crack at it too. All to no avail.
Not the first time I've seen this recommendation, but it's a very odd one... That kind of iodine aggressively and permanently stains everything it touches brown. It's meant for disinfecting and chemically cauterizing wounds (it's great to have in the house for that), but not consumption. Even just two drops in a glass of water will certainly stain your teeth over time.
There are decolorized iodine solutions, but it would be better to stick to iodine meant for consumption.
Using salt fortified with iodine should really have you covered. If you don't like table salt due to lack of other minerals, use iodized Himalayan salt. Or an iodized version of whatever salt floats your boat. Iodine is also naturally found in dairy, eggs, and saltwater fish and seafood. Some other foods come in "fortified with iodine" versions as well. Many multivitamins contain it, too.
Plenty of options that don't involve ruining your teeth by drinking disinfectant.
