Recommendations for laser dry fire training tools?

submitted by MaryXmas to Guns 2.0 yearsMay 7, 2023 09:01:19 ago (+3/-0)     (Guns)

Any recommendations? Multi caliber would be preferred. I am looking for something I could purchase once that doesn't have a subscription price.

Anything without an app attached to it. Why would you want anyone knowing just how good your aim is getting? You think there isn’t a reason for this data collection?

They are making their money through sales. Other than segmenting you as a a user type of gun owner, there isn't a lot of money to be made. I know this because I have managed large datasets for a number of big tech firms. Having the data isn't valuable, you still need to monetize it. And other than segmentation, it is hard to use that data to generate more income.

I was assuming the data is being handed over to law enforcement so they know who is practicing, who they should fear and who’s door to kick in.

Any company selling data would likely sell it on the local level (you are correct) but each county might only have 5 or 6 active individuals in the dataset. It could be valuable to the national feds but they have more robust datasets to work from like visa purchase logs or isp network purchases or traffic. Plus, local cops tend to have smaller budgets. A $30k data set is more than they would likely spend. And yes, 30k would be a fair price for that type of dataset. I have negotiated multi year commercial data contracts up to 1.7 million.

Well, either way, I’m not purchasing one of these apps that (((Sean Hannity))) promotes on talk radio. Besides, I don’t even use a smart phone. I have a flip phone that I carry in a faraday bag when I travel.

This is the tried and true old school.

I bought this and it projects a dot when I pull the trigger.

Laserlyte has a glock 43 that I love. The popcans are fun to have around the house. They also make a j frame revolver if that's what you want to practice with. These are blue.

SIRT is probably the gold standard. These are red.

Prices are outrageous. Ebay sometimes has used.

Check reviews if you end up just getting a laser insert. Sometimes the laser doesn't shoot straight depending on what pistol you put them in. Cheap but no fun having to work slide after every shot.

Elite or x3? Do I need to get snap caps?

Are you looking to practice on your pistol or AR? The AR stuff is insanely good.

Both.

I have this. It's very cool. Every trigger pull of your own ar trigger causes the system, that you insert into your rifle, to reset your trigger so you can fire again. It's very fast. Not binary trigger or bump stock trigger fast, but pretty good.

There is an optional buy for added features related to setups for training that may be worth it if you plan on doing lots of training, but it isn't necessary. That's the "x" part.

The dry fire pistol device (BR4) isn't nearly as good because you have to physically rack your pistol after each trigger pull, but there is no subscription requirement for it.

The mantisX is for serious training. You can use it with the br4 or live fire for analyizing your firing and recovery techniques. The 2,3, or 10 will depend on how serious you want to get.

The snap caps are for tap and rack practice. Doesn't do any more than that.
