Good find, thanks qwop.

No, thousandths of a degree today do not tell us the temperature 4,000 years ago. This is pseudoscience nonsense.

Its replicable today. Take ice and give it to this team and they'll tell you what temperature it was and they'll be right. They can tell by oxygen bubbles. This is not new.

This is fucking stupid. Temperature does not get "locked into ice" for thousands of years. not even a single year. This is blatantly false science and has to be a troll.

It may be the presenter tried to simplify the process too much for the viewer. The actual process analyzes oxygen isotopes locked in the ice core samples to determine temperature:

"How are past temperatures determined from an ice core?"
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-are-past-temperatures/

The point is that ice core samples can be, and are used to determine historical temperature records. This data also correlates with tree ring data as well as soil sediment samples, as was mentioned in the video too.
