I just realized that all Magnum PI characters were single. I was watching the show as a teen, and never cared because it's normal for a teen to be single. Now I understand that the show was programming teens to stay single and childless.
Magnum PI was a show that had a lot of sex appeal in its day. The product they were selling was Hot Actors you could stare at while pretending to care about the plot. All of the characters were adult, single, rich, and good looking. Because in the 80s that's how you made a character 'attractive' ...now it would probably be a trans teenager.
OR, they didn't want to make the show a soap opera and focus on relayshunships and bore the fuck out of their target audience who wanted mystery and action, not drama.
You can enjoy something without idolizing it. It's this type of constipated black or white lack of critical thinking that makes the world so stupid and easily manipulated. Learn to think and stop NPC knee-jerking to everything they do or say. Knee-jerk reactions to their shit still makes you a puppet tied to their strings.
