I used to work for a plastic injection mold company, the largest in the world. I was a low level service tech. I broke free and went from 36/hr to 175/hr just by passing cards to the customers with my personal number on them.

Whoh, I came back to read the comments. Comments are the shit! I will note that the ones which say to start your own business are spot on the money, bro. I did exactly that. It takes a while to position yourself, but the show while you do it was worth the wait (in retrospect of course). I say that after the fact, at the time it was excruciatingly painful, every plodding slow day of that carp was so fucked up. No joke, it was so damned painful. I'd always rode for the brand, all in - or all out. But this was so much more nuanced than that.

It's a long story and I'll tell it later, but it ended with the black guy hire stealing some machinery and a short time later he was locked up for murder for his next action. Literally (he beat the murder rap claiming "muh self defense"), the machinery parts were worth about $7000. I ended up with all of their profitable customers and they went out of business. Stunning shit, and I'll confess that I liked the black guy. At one point, I said that to my brother and he said, "...Sure, he's a murderer and a thief, but other than that, not a bad person". LOL

Keep your fixed expenses as low as you can to start, having a partner with the strengths that are your weakness's is a good idea as well.
