Sad that he's passed on now. Within his genre, the three or four-minute song, he was a genius IMO. His lyrics were always different and better. There's a video documentary about him running around somewhere. Watch it if you come across it.

A few years back on a calm hot summer day my wife and I took the boat and headed out into wide open Lake Superior and we were right over top of the Fitzgerald, the lake was calm as piss on a platter, an hr later we're getting hit with waves that were breaking over the bow of my 21 footer, this Lake Superior is a crazy batch of water and given that it's fresh water there's a lot less buoyancy...I found that salt water helps a boat roll over top of waves rather than plow through them...anyways, that night that the Fitzgerald sank was one fuck of a stormy night...Nov 10 1975.
RIP Gordon Lightfoot.

You can tell this was before venues went all-LED because the scene is warm and comfortable. If you see anything on stage these days it's all harsh grotesque eye-piercing LED shit.
