Yup. An example of an acronym would be DARPA, FBI is initialism though both could be shortened further by just calling them kikes.

An honest chuckle

Yes, better than you apparently.

As an acronym is made up of a conjunction of other words.

e.g. You have Auto-immune deficiency syndrome, the acronym being AIDS, you have AIDS.

An initialism sounds like some yankee bastardised dog vomit, like saying yolo instead of carpe diem.

Initialism and acronyms have nothing to do with it. He didn't ask: "Why can't we just say 'sob' instead of 's.o.b.'?"

"SOB" is an abbreviate, not an acronym.

[ - ] Centaurus 2 points 1 yearMay 1, 2023 14:42:06 ago (+2/-0)

If people say it as a word, such as darpa, then it's an acronym. If it is said as letters, such as e.p.a., then it is an initialism.

Edit: It is, of course, also an abbreviation.

How can it be an abbreviation when that acronym is from three different words?

Pram however is abbreviated from perambulator.

Are articles ever included in initialisms or acronyms?

[ - ] Centaurus 0 points 1 yearMay 1, 2023 12:21:13 ago (+0/-0)

People talking about initialism and acronyms do not understand the question. UncleDoug's answer sounds closer to the mark.

I usually give it an Italian ring to it:

Son-sa bitches.

Even more broken, I suppose.
