A good foot of plush suspension travel, the torquey and reliable tried and true 400cc motor, the hard ass seat that makes your ass hurt on long rides... You should get one, they're great.
These days I'm kind of partial to my sumo for street riding and my tw for the off-road riding available to me. My back won't let me do anything beyond hopping a log, hence the tw.
Btw, I tried dirt tires on the 17" wheels, and it was terrible. It felt weird off-road and on gravel and it felt weird over 50mph on the road. I found out I can't have both. That's how I ended up buying the tw.
TW's sure are fun though. I've only ever ridden them in the parking lot of a powersport dealership I've worked at, but I've always thought they would be fun to ride on a on a trail or beach. Post a pic of your TW man.
It's just last year's black and grey paint with added hand guards and man-sized foot pegs. I took off the mirrors, because obviously a tw is a high performance race machine.
It's great for <60mph highway, creeks, pastures, gravel, and any normal trail riding. It's really bad in the snow and deep, soft, super wet mud. Whipping around town with those fat tires is a lot of fun, too.
I sold my Ural and bought Mrs. Feddit a sxs and myself the tw and a sumo. Wanted one for 25 years.
On the DR-Z 400S, they don't come with a kick start like the E models. I can get a kick starter kit to have a backup in case my battery were to die, I just haven't yet.
