The world runs on very simple playground logic sometimes.
One thing I learned about humanity is that we bully the demographics of our species that are least likely to retaliate or cause problems for being targetted.
Then we make the bullying we do into heroic acts by declaring our chosen victims to be the dangerous perpetrators that they are not, and that we are targeting because we know they aren't.
The groups who do retaliate or cause issues for us when targeted become our precious victims who must be defended and granted entitlements at all costs.
Humans are cowards, and we are lazy too, and we are dishonest, especially with ourselves. Becoming heroes is as easy as simply claiming we are while we occupy a position so dominant that none would challenge our self-assessments.
