sudo cucked

submitted by v0atmage to programming 1 yearApr 29, 2023 13:28:07 ago (+4/-0)     (github.com)

https://github.com/sudo-project/sudo/commit/6aa320c96a37613663e8de4c275bd6c490466b01

Remove "This incident will be reported." from user warnings.
This used to indicate that email had been sent to the administrator
telling them that someone tried to run sudo. Whether or not sudo
sends email is now configurable, so the warning may not be accurate.
It is also confusing to the user since they will not know who the
incident is being reported to. See also https://xkcd.com/838/

Destroying a piece of history for no good reason.

I'm more pissed off about git adding unsolicited warnings about using the "master" branch though.

Just change your primary branch to the "master_race". Problem solved!

Anyone know what all the "F" responses are about?

It’s a meme from call of duty where you had to press “F” to pay respects at a funeral. So, it’s saying RIP to the sudo warning.

Thanks, bud :)

Oh, thanks for pointing that out.

I'll check my newer running systems and restore that line if needed. Probably try to make it sound a little bit scarier while I'm at it, too.

A real chad does everything as root anyway.
