Ok but if I watch a youtube video I've just downloaded the file already.

Being able to watch/hear it without the browser actually saves google bandwidth so what is their fucking problem?

The problem is we're governed by people who don't understand anything but feel entitled to control everything.

Actually, the root of the problem is that we stopped dragging people like that out to the town square and making an example of them.

so what is their fucking problem?

Ads and tracking everything about how/when/what you actually watch.

I've discovered and supported bands I've never heard of because of the ability to do this.

If it's available for free, what difference does it make if I recorded the content?

Not one fuck was given when cassettes were used to make mix tapes. Cry a river that you don't get ad revenue.

My wife and I downloaded over 1500 songs in MP3 format from YouTube. We put them on a thumb drive/memory stick and plug it into our car stereo. On our trips from Florida to Waco. TX and back, we get to only hear songs we love. No fucking with the tuner, no commercials, no fading stations. Just songs we know and love.

1500 songs get us from Florida to Waco, then back to Florida and still haven't heard ever song once. Nice!

YouTube and other video streaming platforms are the 21st century record store; you venture out to find music you may have never heard before and truly enjoy.

The music I love will cause me to buy physical copies (CDs / vinyl) so the artist gets their cut...will never care if the facilitator gets their "ad revenue".

It might be the luddite in me, but when streaming services started (Spotify / Pandora), that's when I stepped up my file saving. Never know when your favorite song will be canceled by the woke.

Not one fuck was given when cassettes were used to make mix tapes.

There were giant mega-million lawsuits flying left and right for decades. Still didn't stop anyone.
