You should be concerned about your people. It's a natural instinct to want what's best for one's tribe. Speaking to the youth and trying to guide them to the right path can have a real impact. If they see your success and happiness and accept guidance then that can be something very positive. This is what I try to do for young white kids who come from poor and abusive backgrounds.
I can agree with you that the old method of forcing native Americans to be white isn't working or helpful and I'm not going to sit here and pretend I have the answer for an environment that I didn't grow up in. Still an effort can be made to assist youth who do not have good role models and I'll stick by that.
