It would have been a non drama if they'd taken the media first and then had non uniforms throughout Germany quietly spike their food and drinks and run them over accidentally and blow them up in gas accidents and then they'd decide to leave. We usually called our enemies shortened versions of what they called themselves, as an insult. Jap "Nipponese" became Nips, Deutsch "National Socialist", pronounced "Not-see-ah-naal so-zee-ah-leest" in German became "Nazi". "Natsi" would be more accurate but that looked too cutesy and not scary enough so the press changed the spelling.
