Zooming in on a circle

Each line cuts the remaining circle in half. There are 14 lines. Can you spot the curve on the last line segment? Me neither, because the curve is too small to be represented within the resolution of the monitor.

If the circle represents the Earth, the last line segment would be about 1.5 miles long (24,901/2^14).

Curvature: 8 inches per mile squared

1 mile = 8 inch. Not much, right?
36 miles = 863 ft. Uh... a little more than 'Not much'.

But you guys ignore that. Literally ignore it. You just won't do the experiment, you mock those who have, you won't do the math yourself, you disregard the math we do from your globe-earth equations, you won't admit that literally 863 feet would be eclipsed by the curve.

Where is the ad hominem? Where have I insulted you? These are facts.

Are you posting this from a device using satellites that travel around the globe?

says something incredibly retarded

"Better not call me retarded, and address my retardation. Otherwise you'll hurt my jewish feelings."

Retardation on that level does not deserve to be entertained. Find a place with higher fluoride concentrations.

Keep drinking your fluoride then, because you clearly don't have the intellect to respond in kind.

8*36 = 288
288/12 = 19 feet. There would be a 19 foot drop over a distance of 36 miles, not ~72 feet (863 inches, since math is hard for flattards.)

If anyone wants to do an experiment, take 3 pieces of cardboard, and cut a hole in 2 of them, roughly a little larger than a pencil ought to work; this is to ensure that the beam is level. Find a body of water at least 5 miles across. Place two pieces of cardboard at the same height so the holes are parallel to the ground and about, let's say, 30-40 feet apart using the water to level it. Place the remaining cardboard the same distance above the water on the other side. Let's make it 5 feet off the ground so we can account for waves. Shine a laser through the two holes on one side, and see how far you have to hold the other piece of cardboard up to catch the laser beam. You'll find that the hole-free cardboard will show that the beam is a little over 40 inches higher on the other side of the water.

Flattards can't reason such things, so I don't expect you to understand this, Love, but maybe a few people will find this information useful.

[ - ] Love240 -1 points 2.2 yearsApr 17, 2023 19:08:15 ago (+0/-1)

Look, I'll use this as an example. I'm not here to demean you and others who don't believe like me.

8 inches per mile is linear, a line, as in 'no curature'. Globe math is 8 inches per mile squared.

83636 = 10368
10368/12 = 864ft* (oh no, I was off by a foot.)

The rest is a moot point.

[ - ] I_am_baal 1 point 2.2 yearsApr 17, 2023 19:19:21 ago (+1/-0)

Lol. Retarded math is the only math that makes any sense to a flattard. The curvature is so small, that accounting for it makes a difference of less than an inch, not 845 feet. We've only traversed 5/24,000ths of a circle, or .06 degrees. Again, this is not for your benefit, Love. You are retarded, and I will bully you over this if I feel like it. The topic is simply too stupid.

[ - ] Love240 -1 points 2.2 yearsApr 17, 2023 03:33:29 ago (+0/-1)

The problem is; that you can see from C to H with the naked eye, and the supposed curvature can be calculated for, which shows that you would not be ABLE to see H from C because of the curvature of the earth in the way, as this model shows.

Yet you CAN see from C to H IRL.

Which is the entire point you are missing.

[ - ] SumerBreeze 1 point 2.2 yearsApr 17, 2023 03:52:32 ago (+1/-0)

I think you are missing that not all flat surfaces anywhere in the universe, let alone on earth, are the same distance.

[ - ] Love240 -1 points 2.2 yearsApr 17, 2023 03:57:45 ago (+0/-1)*

This doesn't have unit measurements. The points are for reference. The point stands. There is a curvature in between the points.

You cannot draw a direct line between C and H on that diagram without intersecting the curvature.

ANY 2 points separated on that diagram cannot be connected by one line without intersecting the diagram.

This is basic geometry and trigonometric understanding. That is exactly why if you carefully examine the curvature equation and do an experiment with your own eyes you can disprove the globe-earth theory instantly.

Yeah, you're pretty forgettable.

[ - ] chrimony [op] 1 point 2.2 yearsApr 17, 2023 08:31:46 ago (+1/-0)

The problem is; that you can see from C to H with the naked eye

What's your reference for this? C to H would be 24901/2^7 = 195 miles.

Which is the entire point you are missing.

My main point was to show flattards just how tiny the curvature can be on the local scale, prompted by you and the other flattard "GetFuckedCunt" in your comments on a flying plane and forces felt because of the "curve".

For example, you said, "Hey, When you zoom in on the ball, does the curve flatten out when you're turning around a corner?"

Can you see the "corner" in the last segment?

[ - ] Love240 -1 points 2.2 yearsApr 17, 2023 08:58:50 ago (+0/-1)

You've mistaken the corner the car is turning around for the curve the ball takes through the air. The corner represents the reference point which the car is accelerating around.

The curve the ball takes through the air because of this cornering is what we would all be constantly experiencing because of the acceleration of a globe earth. Remember, change in direction is change in velocity, which is acceleration.

That's why you strap yourself in to the car using a seat belt. Because while you may feel the accelerations and the change of those accelerations(jerk), you don't want to be like the ball and get tossed about the cabin in the event of an abrupt non-zero acceleration event.

Now imagine a car circling forever. The ball would be flung to one side of the car and always stay there. If you attempted to place the ball to the opposite side of the car, it would return because of the constant acceleration in an angular fashion.

The curve the ball takes through the air because of this cornering is what we would all be constantly experiencing because of the acceleration of a globe earth. Remember, change in direction is change in velocity, which is acceleration.

Which is tiny in comparison to gravity: "To derive the centrifugal acceleration on the equator (i.e. the force in Newtons on one gram mass, rotating with the Earth), we calculate in meters and seconds

v^2 / r = (465.1)^2 / 6378000 = 216318 / 6378000 = 0,03392 m/s^2

Comparing this to the acceleration of gravity--say 9.81 m/s^2--it is only 0.00346 or 0.346%. Effective gravity on the equator is reduced by the rotation, but only by about 1/3 of a percent"

[ - ] Love240 -1 points 2.2 yearsApr 17, 2023 10:11:33 ago (+0/-1)

Except it's constant.

The Failed Foucault Pendulum experiment of 1851 is an example. If there were a constant acceleration of 0,03392 m/s^2 being applied to a pendulum at the equator it would be measurable. crickets They have found no such acceleration. Instead, they have all manner of motion, including the need to give it a 'push' to start it. You'll find pendulums in exhibits are powered with electric motors. Why would that be needed if there was a constant acceleration effecting the plumb-bob?

https://savageplane.wordpress.com/2016/11/20/was-foucaults-pendulum-a-fraud/
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sWDi-Xk3rgw&t=234s <-admits they have to use motors, as he fumbles over himself attempting to explain how they have to give it a 'damn' push.

Simply put, there is no 0,03392 m/s^2 to experience. No matter which way you slice it, you come up short on observational data if you assume that the earth is a globe.

[ - ] chrimony [op] 1 point 2.2 yearsApr 17, 2023 11:17:20 ago (+1/-0)

Except it's constant.

So is gravity.

If there were a constant acceleration of 0,03392 m/s^2 being applied to a pendulum at the equator it would be measurable.

"Effective gravity on the equator is reduced by the rotation, but only by about 1/3 of a percent"

That's opposite to gravity. At the equator, the Foucault pendulum doesn't precess. Precession is based on latitude away from the equator, due to the Coriolis force.

Which amounts to the practical difficulty in conducting a sensitive experiment. There's friction of the pendulum mechanism, friction and other forces due to air, and the need to precisely start the swing without any side motion. It takes at least a day for the Foucault pendulum to fully precess, but it can be several days at lower latitudes:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Foucault_pendulum#/media/File:Foucault_pendulum_precession_vs_latitude.svg

But this is all about Earth's rotation. Theoretically, the Earth could be spherical without any rotation (which, in fact was the official Roman Catholic Church position during the time of Galileo, because they didn't pretend the Earth was flat). But you flattards can't even acknowledge that. You pretend the southern star trails in Australia don't exist, so what's the point of arguing about a sensitive Foucault pendulum experiment?
