Link is to an Invidious instance.

I thought there'd be a hunting sub but there is not! Any hunters out there want to make one? I'll help contribute.

Turkey hunter here.

This was new to me.

I've always brined them and cooked them whole.

Never kept the fan or beard.

Great stuff!

country boy can survive. Ive heard anecdotally that turkeys are very elusive in the wild.

They're easier to hunt in the spring when the toms are addled by cloaca.

The hens attending them are much more wary and will warn the approaching tom of danger if they sense anything off.

The tom straight-up doesn't give a fuck. He'll stride right up and mount the decoy without a second thought.

Fall turkey is a whole different ball game. Without the lure of a potential mate, they are more difficult to hunt.

Not in our area. The whole family will cross in front of your truck as if they own the road (we're talking an extremely rural/forested area).

Sounds like a nice place.
